After the birth of my daughter, I decided to create a purple infiltration in honor of her name, Viola, which means “purple” in Italian. I was inspired to do this because motherhood is an experience that filters through every single tissue in the body as well as every corner of the mind. Motherhood causes your body to fill up with liquids that are in excess for yourself, but urgently necessary for the new life growing inside. These liquids contain her body, give her life, shape her and feed her through an umbilical cord as powerful as existence itself.

At the same time, other liquids filter downward, inflating your body, weighing you down, slowing you down and causing your body to become unfamiliar as it comes to terms with its new priorities.
