Pencil and print on handmade paper, different sizes, 2020-2018.
This series of prints/drawings depicting the extinct animals in a particular geographical area takes into account the subject of the influence of human activity on the environment. In the above picture, we describe Sicily, for example, a country where lions, elephants, hippos, and surprisingly, deer also lived. Poaching, hunting, cultivation techniques that have changed the landscape, climate change, and the increasingly active occupation of the territory by humankind have caused the disappearance of many species. This is a dramatic process that is still ongoing and which brings with it the loss of rich and inclusive biodiversity.
